Targeting the World Cup

The Belgium forward Michy Batshuayi has made it clear, according to The Guardian, that he will not play another season at Stamford Bridge, if he’s not given the chance in the starting eleven. As many other players in The Premier League, Batshuayi is gearing up for the upcoming World Cup, and without regular time on the pitch in the Premier League, his chances for an appearance in the 2018 World Cup in Russia are decreasing.

Four goals in last three appearances

The Belgium ace ended the season on a high with scoring the winning goal against West Brom, in the match that meant that Chelsea secured the trophy. Before that goal, he also scored in two consecutive matches. However, the forwards full league debut didn’t come until after Chelsea managed to secure the title. His total tally landed on 5 goals during his first season at Stamford Bridge.

When asked straight out if he would to accept another season in Chelsea outside the first team 23-year-old forward answered:

“No, no, no. Everyone knows that I have to play more, that I have to score goals. There’s a World Cup coming up next year. I want to be ready for the World Cup.”

With Diego Costa eying a move to the Chinese Super League, the door might become wide open for Batshuayi to make his way in to the first team for the upcoming season. However, a move back to Stamford Bridge for the Belgians team-mate in the national team, Romelu Lukaku, might suggest that the gap on that very same door are closing in for Batshuayi.
